After spending the last four years in Osborne teaching and coaching, the Lutters family is headed to Hoisington to do the same.
Trina Lutters will be the next high school head basketball coach for the Lady Cardinals and as was the case in Osborne, she will be assisted by her husband Tony. Tony also spent the 2022 season as the head volleyball coach at Osborne. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach for three seasons with the Lady Bulldogs volleyball team. He will also be an assistant coach with the Lady Cardinals volleyball squad in the fall.
Trina spent the past four seasons as the head coach for the Lady Bulldogs basketball team and under her guidance, they qualified for the 1A-DI State Tournament two times. The Lady Dogs went 74-19 over four seasons. This past season, they went 20-3, falling in the Sub-State Championship to Frankfort in Washington. In 2021-22, Osborne finished 22-2, losing to the eventual state champion Pretty Prairie in the first round of the tournament. They also qualified for State in 2020-21, falling in the first round at Hodgeman County.
Lutters explained why she feels now is the time for this new opportunity for the family.
Ultimately, the final landing spot was Hoisington. With their daughter Trinity set to play college hoops at Sterling this coming school year, it puts them closer to her, which is one of multiple reasons Hoisington felt like the right fit.
