A threatening note, reportedly written in haste by a student was discovered at Axtell High School, and the facility was placed in cautionary lockdown early Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities, including Marshall and Nemaha County Sheriff’s Departments, and the Kansas Highway Patrol responded, and investigated the situation with school authorities, who lifted the lockdown before Axtell schools were dismissed as usual.
No imminent threat to the safety of students or staff was determined.

The Sabetha Herald reports that the lockdown at Axtell School is lifted, and students were sent home at their usual time. The investigation is complete, but no details released as of this time.

USD 113 officials have confirmed that the Axtell School went into lockdown Wednesday afternoon. No details on what caused the lockdown to occur have been released at this time.
